Although Steve has only been with Anderson Paint since 2010, you may recognize him from his 35 years of helping customers at O’Leary Paint. Working with a large contractor base, Steve assists with commercial epoxy projects, lacquer and industrial coatings. Steve really enjoys connecting with customers throughout the day. He grew up in Ann Arbor and his hobbies include chainsaw carving, music and home improvement projects in his own house. He lives in Ann Arbor with his lovely wife Kathy and their two golden retrievers.
John Rudolph “Rudy”
Service with a smile is what customers have grown accustomed to every day from John while he works to pinpoint the perfect color or product for them. He has enjoyed finding answers to difficult questions and has helped make problems disappear for more than 25 years. John remembers one instance when he supplied paint for a customer who was covering a 150ft. building with the American flag shortly after 9/11.
John met his future wife when he began working at Anderson Paint, and they now have three children, and love spending time as a family. Frequently throughout the summer they go camping throughout the state of Michigan. Both John and Meg are dog lovers and currently have a mountain dog mix named “Boomer” “Bo” “Chocolate”. Each of the children added their two cents for naming the dog.
Attention to detail and a passion for all things creative – just a small example of the wide-range of assets Gayle Pesek brings to the team at Anderson Paint. Specializing in interior design, Gayle has been back since 2010, having previously been employed by Anderson Paint from 1993 to 1997. Gayle has a BS in Interior Design and a minor in Art from EMU, maintained a 15 year membership as an associate member in the American Society of Interior Designers, and has a background in architectural drafting, color theory and residential and contract design.
Outside of work, Gayle connects with the community by ushering for the U of M football games in section 17. She has two mischievous cats, Aussie and Czecher, which she rescued from the Humane Society of Huron Valley (HSHV).
Jen started her paint career at Anderson’s in 2015, and quickly worked her way to managing our Washtenaw location. She is always ready with a smile to get you through the day. Jen has a husband Andy, an adorable French Bulldog named Zeus and a Persian cat named Pebbles. Jen is a native of Detroit and you can still catch her from time to time at a club playing 90’s techno. Ann Arbor has been her home since 2008 and she loves it here. Her favorite TV show is Game of Thrones, loves roller coasters and recently started dabbling in painting creatively.
Tony Anderson has been managing the financial side of Anderson Paint for more than 30 years. He genuinely enjoys the “running the business” side of the paint industry! Nevertheless, he will occasionally get caught up with an exciting project out on the floor. For instance, once he assisted the AA Police Department on a graffiti reduction project where they were setting up a sting operation to try and catch graffiti artists in the act.
Tony has been married for over 30 years and has 3 children. He enjoys being an empty nester, spending time with his wife and kids, and swimming everyday.
Phil Lotts is definitely a people person. From trouble shooting and color matching with customers at the beginning of a project, to the reward of a customer returning to say thank you, Phil finds pleasure in every aspect of his work. Once in a while an interesting project will come up, such as matching paint with the fur on a Siamese cat. Phil has enjoyed the ordinary and the extraordinary days in his more than 40 years with Anderson Paint.
Phil is married with four kids and has four grandchildren, who he loves taking care of. Phil has an eye for all types of automobiles and loves auto racing. When the weather is nice you might see him out riding his motorcycle. He is also an avid walker at Hudson Mills park and Briarwood mall. Give him a wave if you see him, but he walks so fast he could just be a blur.
The day-to-day interaction with contractors and retail customers has been the energy in Jason Rudolph’s step all of the almost 10 years he has been with Anderson Paint. His primary focus is on product knowledge and color matching; however, Jason once drew upon his expertise to help a customer pick out the correct protective clear finish for his totem pole and stump art.
There is a new spark to Jason’s walk lately, as he was married in October of 2011! He and his wife have two cats. Jason loves playing sports and getting together with friends. He participates with the Redford Jaycees in their organized community soccer, softball and basketball groups.
Years ago Don McGee assisted someone in finding a product for one of the towers at Domino’s Farms. For Don, seeing a customer satisfied with the right product for their project and making sure it works is the highlight of his day. Don has been with Anderson Paint for more than 20 years working in outside sales, property management and institutional and healthcare facilities. He is involved with the Painting and Decorating Contractors of America (PDCA) and he is a member of the Ann Arbor Apartment Association.
Don spends his free time up north with his wife and his dog, Presley. When he’s not at home Don keeps himself busy golfing and running. He’s sure to swap dog stories with other dog lovers when he gets the chance!
It’s easy to see commitment to the client in Tom Thompson. Dedicated to helping people solve problems and become more profitable, Tom is finding out better ways to do both for them every day. Tom joined the crew at Anderson Paint in 2008, with 13 years of prior paint sales experience. He loves to see paint he’s made on T.V. or on landmarks, such as the U of M stadium. He remembers the first gallon of paint he matched was for the roof of a T.G.I Friday’s restaurant!
Tom is married, with two stepsons, a granddaughter and a grandson. He is a precinct delegate for the GOP, and takes time to go fishing and play guitar. Tom works with his head and hands to keep up with home improvement jobs, making good use of hillbilly engineering techniques!
